Laura Ling and Euna Lee, journalists working for former Vice President Al Gore's Current TV, were arrested near China's border with North Korea on March 17. The two were quickly convicted of illegal entry and "hostile acts" and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor.
Bill Clinton's surprise visit to North Korea wasn't likely planned without the White House, Clinton's former NATO ambassador told The Hill on Tuesday. Clinton landed in Pyongyang on Tuesday and promptly met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, according to the state-run media in the tightly controlled communist nation. His visit was billed as an effort to gain the release of two journalists, but as everyone knows this release was already pre-arranged. This was already a done deal before Clinton even got there.

Johnny Carson must be rolling over in his grave. Even the late Lenny Bruce is having a fit. While you were watching David Letterman -- a bitter guy who never saw a woman or a Republican he could stand -- trash Sarah Palin's 14-year-old daughter by "joking" that she was date-raped by Alex Rodriguez and stalked by Eliot Spitzer, you may have missed the memo. Dave's in good company..
One has to wonder why these so called comedians are getting big pay for trashing America?
I'm sick of self-described comedians thinking that they can get as disgusting and debasing as they want and say oh lighten up - it just a joke! No, it's not funny when they become downright mean and Letterman has gone from okay comedy to now just mean.

It's horrible what he did to Palin's daughters - first the 14 y/o and then thought it would be acceptable if he changed it to the 18 year old. Who thinks that way these days???? Oh, right, the "progressives." It's disgusting.

All of us were so eager for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to lose that we got caught up in the popular enthusiasm, especially among Iran's younger voters and Since the US has openly tossed Israel onto the rhetorical scrap heap, the passivity of the US toward Iran leaves Israel no survival chance unless it decapitates Iran's nukes unilaterally.
Was this election stolen? I don't know, I can easily see western reporters over-estimating urban vs. rural voting impact. However, the margin does seem far too wide, polling indicated a close race and turnout was huge.

This could get more interesting.

I think the younger Iranians understand that they are responsible for their leader's actions and that Ahmadinejad puts them in greater danger. After seeing what the countries around them have gone through, Afganistan, Iraq, Pakistan and to some extent Syria, there has to be some fear that an American or Israeli attack would be the beginning of really bad times

There is no doubt in my mind that both Obama and Sotomayor got to where they are because of their race. This is what this country has come to. We are now having very powerful positions filled by people who got there solely because of their race instead of their ability. Does anyone really wonder why our country is crumbling from the inside out? Multiculturalism is a failed social experiment. Each race has it's own political agenda and beliefs and the politicians cater to them. You always here about politicians going after the African American or Hispanic vote but never do you hear of anyone going after the European American vote. The more this country becomes multicultural and multiracial, the further it will slide into the cesspool that we are heading toward.
